​Environmental and Consumer Health

The Environmental and Consumer Health Division of the Port Arthur Health Department is responsible for policing the compliance to codes and ordinances regarding environmental health issues, as well as assuring that the foods citizens may consume at area dining establishments follow guidelines as established by the City of Port Arthur and the State of Texas' Department of Health Rules on Food Service Sanitation and the Texas Food Establishment Rules as adopted by the Texas Board of Health.

​Purpose

The purpose of the Division of Environmental Health is to preserve, protect and promote the health and well being of the population through the organization and delivery of health engineering related services designed to reduce the risk of disease by:

1. controlling environmental hazards to human health; and
2. promoting health and wellness through education and access to technical health engineering professionals.
