[ARCHIVED] NEWS RELEASE: Message Regarding Water Services - 2nd UPDATE

Water Purification Plant

City of Port Arthur Utility Operations

Water Services Update

Through the City of Port Arthur's partnership with local industry, Cheniere Energy, Inc. shares the following statement:

"The City of Port Arthur Water Plant reports steady progress Thursday night into Friday. With the assistance of thermal imaging capabilities, pipe breaks have been located along Hwy 82. Equipment has been sourced to begin repairs and crews will be working continuously through the weekend. "The residents of Port Arthur and Sabine Pass are our first priority and we are diligently working internally and with partners to ensure water is restored as soon as possible." Donald Stanton, Port Arthur Water Director."

Water Distribution System pressures continues to rise. Most citizens should notice an increased flow throughout this afternoon and tonight, although city-wide normal system pressures may NOT return until Sunday or Monday. Areas with large, active leaks, and areas in the outer perimeters along intersection of 82 and 87 toward Sabine Pass of the city are not going to pressure up as quickly.

We must continue safety guidelines, and boil and then cool our water for consumption and/or cooking, until we are cleared by Water Utilities Administration.

The more eyes looking for leaks the better, so we encourage citizens to check in and around their property and neighborhood for leaks and call (409) 983-8550 to report. If you find the phones are busy, please keep calling.  Citizens can also email Trinell Smith at trinell.smith@portarthurtx.gov or Trina Bendy at trina.bendy@portarthurtx.gov, but please use these email addresses for leak reports only. Thank you for your patience.
