Port Arthur Fire Department, City administrators, officials, and employees all participated in the first, ever "Push In" ceremony going back to late 1800's when horse drawn apparatus was used to battle fires. PA Fire Station 8 welcomed its new fire engine with the Push-In Ceremony, which involved three steps:
- The new engine was wet down/"washed" by driving it under ladder trucks.
- Everyone present was invited to engage in the "dry off".
- Everyone was encouraged to participate in the "push" of the engine into the bay.
The Push In is an opportunity to recognize the investment made by the community and support of the City in maintaining fire/EMS service levels.
