Comforting Young Hearts With Teddy Bears

Port Arthur Fire and Police units have some new and innovative equipment to serve the community, however, Teddy bears are the most soothing and cuddly tools used in Public Safety. The Port Acres Public Action (PAPA) community group conducted a community fund-raising event to purchase teddy bears for use by Port Arthur Fire and Police Departments. Teddy bears are well known in making a difference in calming children that have been involved in or witnessed a stressful event. Reducing the emotional pain children experience by having a cuddly teddy bear to hug is beneficial and comforting.

Teddy bears can be a positive distraction for kids by embracing, giving the bears a name, and introducing them to family. PAPA’s gracious donation indicates how tight the community is with everyone seeking to support each other in times of trauma and stress. The commitment of both Port Arthur Fire and Police to provide public safety services to the community is enhanced by adding these teddy bears donated by PAPA.
