The Texas Municipal League Recognizes

2022 TML Leadership Fellows

The Texas Municipal League recognized Darlene Thomas-Pierre, Code Compliance Manager, and Pamela D. Langford, Assistant City Manager of Operations, as 2022 Leadership Fellows on Friday, May 13, 2022, at the TML Leadership Academy in Round Rock, Texas. During the awards ceremony, Darlene and Pamela were among the first group honored since 2019 by Bennett Sandlin, Texas Municipal League (TML) Executive Director. The award recipients – elected, appointed, and other city officials from throughout Texas – voluntarily completed more than 30 hours of training, held over two months, to enhance their leadership skills.

Participants explored the principles and characteristics of ethical leadership, learned to build trust and community, discovered ways to improve team building and communication skills, and practiced negotiation for strategic influence. The academy covers local issues in the broader leadership context and participants learn to apply what is learned to their public service role, benefitting their cities and residents. Created in 1913, the Texas Municipal League is a nonprofit organization that provides legal guidance, legislative advocacy, publications, training, and networking opportunities to officials from over 1,165 cities in Texas.
