[ARCHIVED] PA Health Department No Longer Able to Provide Tuberculosis Testing

Food Safety Banner

The Port Arthur Health Department is no longer able to provide TB tests, as a mandate handed down by the state health agencies has changed. In the past, the Health Department has provided tuberculosis testing for the general public for pre-employment as well as other needs. Due to the shortage of the vaccine tubersol, the Health Department is now only allowed to test those who have come in contact with tuberculosis and certain "High-risk" individuals as stated in the TB work plan. Please contact the Port Arthur Health Department for more information.

The mission of the Port Arthur City Health Department is to:

  • Prevent communicable and vaccine-preventable diseases
  • Promote health and wellness through health promotion, education, nutritional food and counseling
  • Educate and prepare the community for natural or bioterrorism disasters
  • Maintain an overall maximum well status
  • To link clients with appropriate health and social services
