The City of Port Arthur Parks and Recreation Department is offering free water skills training for citizens. In addition, for those participants who successfully pass all classes, and agree to work with the City's Aquatics program during the summer and for off-season aquatics events and activities, a Lifeguard class will be offered, free of charge. The Lifeguard training is a six-month program, and upon completion, successful trainees receive American Red Cross certification. Sign-up begins this week, and will extend through the first week of October.
