Port Arthur Census 2020 Kick-off: All In! One City! One Count!

Port Arthur Census 2010 Low Response Areas

2020 Logo_Census 2020_PreferredWe are excited to announce that we are partnering with the U. S. Census Bureau to support the 2020 Census! Join us in the Kick-off celebration at 7:30 PM, on December 14, 2019, at the Downtown Pavilion! As a partner, we will be working to make sure our community is accurately represented in the upcoming ten-year count.

The census counts everyone in the United States. Census results are the basis for congressional representation and help determine how more than $675 billion in federal funds is distributed each year to support vital programs in states and communities across the country. These funds support local health care, housing, education, transportation, employment, and public policy.

The City of Port Arthur uses these federal funds to maintain our standing as an entitlement community; the amount allocated to Port Arthur is based on our community having at least 50,000 residents, so your response matters! Health clinics. Fire Departments. School. Even roads and highways. The census can shape many different aspects of our community.

As the 2020 Census approaches, we will continue to share information about how you can make sure our community is fully represented. Visit 2020CENSUS.GOV anytime to get the latest news!
