The City Council approved a contract (PR21089) with Infrastructure Management Services for the use of "X-ray" equipment undertaking a condition and sub-structure analysis for streets that are in need of repair throughout the City. Public Works, Engineering Division, has met with employees of Infrastructure Management Services (IMS) to go over details and see how the equipment actually works. IMS workers explained that the tricked-out van is designed to slowly travel the streets, while the equipment (actual lasers) sends the data into the computer system in the van, and finally to IMS's home office, where a quality control team figures out the information in preparation of giving Port Arthur's Streets Division a hand in scheduling the City's street repairs.
It seems like a lot of information, but we have pics and a video of the van and the equipment when you click here.
