NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET
The Port Arthur City Council will conduct a Public Hearing for the Fiscal Year 2020 – 2021 Tax Rate for the City of Port Arthur City at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. The public is invited to provide comment. COVID-19 Virus restrictions prohibit public gathering at City Hall; however, citizens will be able to participate at the public hearing via telephonic or video-conference, and will be able to view the public hearing on the city website at the following link: http://portarthurtx.swagit.com/live. Citizens will also be able to call the office of the City Secretary at (409) 983-8115 to address the City Council during the Public Hearing. he no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2020 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for City of Port Arthur from the same properties in both the 2019 tax year and the 2020 tax year. The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate. This means that City of Port Arthur is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2020 tax year.
The voter-approval tax rate is the highest tax rate that City of Port Arthur may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate.
