[ARCHIVED] PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: City Services For Veterans Day, November 11, 2020

Veterans Day Poster 2020

Thank you, Veterans!

November 9, 2020

Port Arthur wants to thank you-veterans-for protecting our lives and public safety. The sacrifice made by veterans rings throughout our history and continues daily. We want to take this time to thank you for your service to us!

https://militarybenefits.info/veterans-day/ describes veterans' services like this: "...Throughout our history, military service members have put on their uniforms to protect the values and liberties that this nation was built on. But that doesn’t stop once the uniform comes off and their time in active duty has ended. Veterans take the lessons they have learned and the experiences they’ve gained and continue their service to our nation by strengthening our communities. They become our nation’s leaders, scientists, entrepreneurs. Veterans are the most active volunteers working to improve communities across our country. Service goes beyond the uniform. This Veteran’s Day, we honor the men and women who have worn their uniform who continue to serve our country."

Veterans Day

The City of Port Arthur will observe this federal holiday to honor our veterans on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. City residential and solid waste services will be suspended on that day. Please be assured that we will resume Wednesday's residential routes on Thursday, November 12. Thursday's garbage routes will be picked up on Friday, November 13, 2020.
