Point-In-Time Volunteer Sign-Up

From the Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission and the Texas Homeless Network

It is time to rally our volunteers in preparation of the 2021 Point-In-Time Count which will be on Thursday, January 28th.

This year's count will look different from previous years, as we will be conducting an Observation Only count of the unsheltered homeless. We will have one primary wave of volunteers beginning at 8:00 a.m. CT. Consistent with current CDC and HUD guidelines, PIT volunteers will not have physical contact with any individuals from the homeless community and we will not distribute hygiene and food packs as we have in the past few years.

Although the count will look different, we still need your support to be successful. We anticipate needing 30-40 volunteers from throughout the region to cover all areas. There are three simple steps to prepare as a PIT 2021 volunteer.

STEP 1: Register as a volunteer with the Texas Homeless Network (THN): click here

STEP 2: Attend ONE local PIT virtual training session.  The options are:

Tuesday, January 12 at 10 am: click here

Tuesday, January 12 @ 3 pm: click here

Tuesday, January 19 @ 6 pm: click here

STEP 3: Complete THN's mobile app training: click here

Volunteers will receive a follow-up email the week of the Count. Thank you, again, for your continued support. [We] look forward to working with you in the coming weeks.
